About Seven Roads Gallery
Seven Roads Gallery began in 1988 as a catalog idea selling unique handcrafted jewelry, fine art and crafts. In 1989, it moved into a retail space in Milwaukee's Historic Third Ward as White Thunder Wolf Studio. The product line for the business expanded to American Indian art and crafts and moved to a busier location in downtown Milwaukee. Incorporated in 1992 under the name White Thunder Wolf Trading Company, the business grew with the addition of glass beads and crafts supplies as well as books and music. A staple of the business was, and is, our own rawhide Native American style drums. When the owner of the retail space put the building up for sale, the opportunity for a move presented itself.
In 1998, the corporation moved to Sedona, Arizona and operated a retail store in old town Flagstaff. With the move came an Arizona requisite name change to Wolf and Swan Company Incorporated. Rather than compete with numerous Arizona Trading Posts selling inexpensive souvenirs to Grand Canyon tourists or Sedona new age gifts, the business focused on fine art and craft. It was also during this five-year period in Arizona that teaching and learning about the art of traditional Hispanic Catholic New Mexican Santos and religious iconography came about. The teacher was a well-known Taos born Santero.
The lure of Wisconsin's blue lakes and green pastures provided the impetus for a move to the beautiful Kickapoo River Valley in 2004. Changing the name in 2005 to Seven Roads Gallery redefined a focus on fine art. Seven roads took the business to Kickapoo Center Wisconsin. The journey in art has been equally rewarding.
