A life-long love of folk art in its many styles and forms is a consistent theme for Seven Roads Gallery. Many of the following works contain elements of fine art, however, the structure dictates folk art. The artist for each of the artworks is identified, save for that created by the owner of Seven Roads Gallery. A brief bio appears on the "about us" page.

folk art elf or gnome by artists Linda Miller
Click for larger image
A Christmas Gnome
Folklore says that gnomes are dwarves who live inside the earth. They guard precious ore or treasure. This Christmas gnome is made from an organic gourd grown in artist Linda L. Miller's own Kickapoo Center garden. It is brightly painted in acrylic with platform shoes made of pine. He will guard your precious Christmas gifts but beware, his mother was an elf. Here in Southwestern Wisconsin gnomes and elves are a part of the local Norwegian culture. Our own gnome, Tom, swings in the forty foot pine tree on the east fence line. If you look outside at dusk you can see him playfully swinging while other gnomes cultivate mushrooms under the tree.

This traditional image of St. Francis holding a skull and the Dove of Peace above, measures 26X35 in. The frame is a rustic wash finish over pine. Taking an old cabinet door and turning it into a retablo was the first step in creating this wonderful winter scene of the Kickapoo River Valley. It measures 20X31 in.
